Jarrett Treeview Village is an 84 Bed “Special Care” Home for the City of
Greater Sudbury Developmental Services (GSDS) to be located off Treeview

focused on meeting a portion of the housing and service needs for the
developmentally disabled members of this community as well as their
families. The project will include programmed space for a full service
Kitchen/Dining facility, Activities/Games areas, Green house, Therapy
rooms, Living room/Lounge space and Chapel as a complement to a mix of
the 84 private and semi-private resident suites. Perry + Perry
Architects Inc. are currently in the design and development phase of the
project with the commencement of the construction tentatively scheduled
for the Spring of 2004.
This
initiative is only one of the many services at the GSDS offers our
community. Their mission is geared towards assisting developmentally
handicapped individuals and includes daycare centers, recreational and
leisure programming, job training employment services, respite care
services and residential services to name a few. This particular
project builds on the GSDS goals and philosophy with a specific focus
on centralizing residential housing and related services delivery while providing affordable housing suitable to the needs of the
developmentally disabled and their families.
This
project is a first of it’s kind in North America. The GSDS is therefore
breaking new ground and looks forward to exciting and successful result
from their efforts. We at Perry + Perry Architects are honored to be a
part of this project and project team and eager to share our unique and
innovative housing ideas with this project. |
